COURSE DETAILS
Schedule - Summer and Fall 2025
Are you interested in joining Resurrection or becoming confirmed in the Anglican Church? In order to join, we invite you to attend Confirmation class and take part in a cohort. The classes will cover the following topics:
Holy Scripture in the life of the Church and the believer
The Creeds and our beliefs
The Lord’s Prayer as a model for our prayer lives
Distinctives of the Anglican Tradition
Our Worship and Instructed Eucharist
The Bishop will come on Oct 19th, 2025 and during that visit, we have confirmations.
WHAT IS CONFIRMATION?
At its most basic, Confirmation refers to the rite in which, after a believer has been baptized, they make a mature commitment to the faith and receive increased gifting of the Holy Spirit through the bishop’s prayer, laying on of hands, and anointing. According to the ACNA Prayer Book, “In Confirmation, God, through the bishop’s prayer for daily increase in the Holy Spirit, strengthens the believer for Christian life in the service of Christ and his kingdom. Grace is God’s gift, and we pray that he will pour out his Holy Spirit on those who have already been made his children by adoption and grace in Baptism.”
In the early Church, baptism and laying on of hands were combined. As the Church grew and infant baptism became common, the rite split: priests handled water baptism, while bishops performed the laying on of hands to confirm baptismal promises.
Who should be confirmed?
Anyone who is 15 years old or older, has been baptized, but has not yet made a public and mature affirmation of his or her own faith and is committed to following Christ in a uniquely Anglican way as a member of the Anglican Church.
Who should be received?
If you have been confirmed in another apostolic tradition (Catholic, Episcopal, etc.) and wish to become Anglican, you follow the same process as listed above, but in recognizing your previous confirmation as valid, we “receive” you into the Anglican Church.
Do I need to be confirmed to be a member of Resurrection?
No, you only need to be baptized. However, you must be confirmed or received in the Anglican Church to serve on the Vestry and other leadership roles as our church grows and formalizes. If you are confirmed or received, you are automatically considered a member of Resurrection.
